2013 SAVAR BUILDING COLLAPSE

On April 24, 2013, an eight-story commercial building, Rana Plaza, collapsed in Savar, a sub-district in the Greater Dhaka Area, the capital of Bangladesh. Approximately 2,500 people were injured. At least 2,500 people were rescued from the building alive. The search for the dead ended on 13 May with the death toll of 1,127.

It is considered to be the deadliest garment-factory accident in history, as well as the deadliest accidental structural failure in modern human history.

BACHAO is currently working with local charities in Bangladesh to raise funds for the victims and their families. These funds will be used for various reasons including helping families of victime with medical expenses, burial costs, as well as daily lifing expenses for those who have lost the sole bread winner in the family.
